Chocolate Walnut Smoothie

A smoothie that tastes like dessert. This Chocolate Walnut Smoothie is creamy, decadent and SO SO GOOD!

Toasted walnuts take this healthy chocolate smoothie to the next level. It’s pure heaven and super nourishing at the same time. Do you know walnuts are packed with healthy fats (high in omega 3’s), antioxidants and minerals? Cacao powder is also loaded with antioxidants, and I also added a little maca powder for an extra dose of nutrition, but it’s completely optional.

This smoothie is so rich and chocolatey that it can be an energizing breakfast, a sweet snack or a healthy dessert. It’s one of the best ways to start the day and it will keep you energized and full for hours.

Chocolate Walnut Smoothie

Creamy, satisfying oh-so-dreamy Chocolate Walnut Smoothie. A rich and decadent drink that’s actually good for you; it’s the perfect way to start your day!
Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 big banana, frozen*
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup toasted walnuts, tightly packed**
  • 1 Tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp maca powder, optional
  • 1 tsp coconut nectar or maple syrup
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

* Frozen bananas make creamy, delicious smoothies. Bananas need to be frozen for at least 8 hours. I like to keep a stash of frozen bananas in my freezer so I can make smoothies whenever I want (all the time, actually). Peel them, cut them in half, and store them in an airtight container. The riper the bananas, the tastier and sweeter the smoothie. Green bananas = bland smoothies.
** To toast walnuts: preheat oven to 355 F / 180 C. Place raw walnuts on a baking sheet (no oil) and bake for 10 minutes, or until fragrant and golden. Cool down.
